He watched her #SexySnippets #asmsg His Treasure-Men of Valor series

Welcome back to Sexy Snippets. This weekly meme is hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers where we share seven sentences from a published book or work-in-progress. If you're a writer, feel free to join us by signing up at the Sexy Snippets page. Sign up opens every Tuesday and closes midnight every Saturday (UK time).

I've been feeling nostalgic this week and I decided to go back and read His Treasure, the first story I ever had published. Writers, do you ever do that? Go back and read your old stories. Well, I do. It gave me a lovely respite from editing.

Anyway, here's a snippet from His Treasure. Enjoy

He watched her. Her chest rose and fell,  her long, dark lashes fanned her cheeks. She was beautiful. Alluring. Captivating.
Sometimes he would sit up and watch her for hours while she slept.
Of course it didn’t help that he wanted to do more than just watch her. He wanted to touch her, taste her, fill her, spill into her, and then do it all over again.

Book Blurb – His Treasure, Men of Valor book 1

Obinna knows there are several ways to tame a rebellious woman. Patience and perseverance are two of them. Adaku is his treasure and he will never let her go. When her fears push her into his arms, will he be able to convince her to stay with him forever by unleashing the passion within her?

He wanted her to bare all to him #midweektease #asmsg Keeping Secrets

Oops. Totally forgot about Mid-Week Tease this morning as I'm buried in editing. Please pardon my tardiness.

Anyway, it makes sense to bring you a piece of what I've been editing. So here's a teaser from Keeping Secrets.

Outside in the garden, Felix sat on the bench under the shade of the acacia tree, his favourite spot in his vast estate. His eyes were closed but he became aware of Ebony before she reached him or spoke. He heard the swish of her dress as she moved, and the patter of her shoes against the cobbles of the stone path that weaved through the back garden. As she approached, he smelled her essence, He didn’t open his eyes. Instead, he inhaled deeply as his body stirred.

"Hi, darling." Soft lips brushed his in a brief kiss.

Within his body, desire sparked. Yet, alarm bells rang in his mind and his spine stiffened with suspicion. She called him "darling." She’d never used that word on him before. Something must be definitely wrong.

He opened his eyes and looked at her through his dark sunglasses. She smiled, but her usual radiant glow seemed diminished, somehow. She wore a pair of dark sunshades so he couldn’t see her eyes. Her dark hair lay swept over one shoulder, her dress a sea-blue sundress that showed off long, smooth legs.

His body didn’t care what she’d been up to. He wanted to sit her on his lap right here and sink into her wet core. To rock into her and make her forget whatever could be on her mind. He wanted her to bare all to him. To hide nothing from his gaze, from him. To hear her cry out his name over and over again like she’d done this morning.

I hope you enjoyed it. Please check out the other Mid-week teasers.
Excuse me while I go back into my editing cave. Normal service will resume soon. Enjoy the rest of your week

Your life is not your own-The Arrangement by @BethanyKris #Giveaway #mafiaromance

When a Cosa Nostra girl and a Bratva boy meet...

Ten Facts about Anton from The Arrangement

People often like an inside look at one of the characters of a novel before they pick it up and read, so, today, I thought I’d share with you ten inside details about my hero in The Arrangement, Anton Avdonin. I hope these little tidbits will give you a look at him from his professional standpoint as well as the faults and expectations he had from being human.
1)      Anton is a Pakhan—or Boss—in the Bratva, also known as the Russian Mafia. He took over the position after his step-grandfather died a couple of years back.
2)     He’s possessive and easily made jealous. What’s his is his, but he’s not a little boy playing the mine game.
3)     He has a couple of tattoos. Tribal vines that go over his shoulders and down his arms. A black, tribal rose on his chest to signify he is a ‘made’ man in the Russian Mafia. A star on each shoulder to signify his position in the mafia as very high ranking. And a single inverted cross between his thumb and forefinger to mark him having preformed a worthy hit for his family.
4)     He’s only been in love the once, but he’s never forgotten the woman who made him feel it.
5)     His middle name is Daniil, named for his father who is currently dying of cancer. Something in which Anton is devastated about.
6)     When he was four, the marriage between him and Viviana Carducci (the daughter of a Cosa Nostra Don) was arranged. It wasn’t until he was eighteen that he finally accepted the marriage and Viviana.
7)     As a boss, he is ruthless and he always demands respect, but he is fair.
8)    With other men, Anton is heavy on the fists if someone disrespects the woman he loves. For Viviana, his hands never hurt her … not unless she wants them to. *winks*
9)     He loves fast cars, bourbon, and guns. Guns are his favorite, though.
10) Anton was never pushed towards organized crime, but he was groomed for it, he simply drifted there in the end because he was made for it. He is, essentially, a born leader. And he does it incredibly well.

Get on the bed #MidWeekTease #asmsg #freeread Her Protector

Welcome back to Mid-Week Tease hosted by the lovely Sandra Bunino. This  week I'm sharing from my FREE historical romance short story, Her Protector. In this scene, Jide the head palace guard has just caught Oma spying and has taken her to his chamber.

BTW, when I wrote this story I had an obsession with Peter Mensah, from Spartacus. He totally inspired Jide. So you can imagine how fearsome he is in this scene.

Peter Mensah as Oenomaus in Spartacus

She took a deep breath to quell her rising panic. As much as she dreaded the lash of the whip, there was far greater danger with her being alone in this man’s chamber. Brutal and frightening, he could easily overwhelm her with his strength.
“Am I now your captive?” she asked to distract him while her gaze roamed the sill searching for a weapon she could utilize to defend herself.
She would kill him first rather than have him forcibly take her.
“Until I know your intention for being in the heir’s private quarters, yes,” he replied, his tone matter of fact.
“You cannot keep me captive.” She moved closer to the wall with the weapons, one foot shuffle at a time.
“You will find that I can and will. Or would you rather I bind you to the picket outside like a common thief and whip the truth out of you.”
She turned her head sharply and raised her gaze to meet his.
His expression cooled, his lips pursed in a tight line.
Cold sweat broke on her forehead as her skin crawled with nervousness and fear. She had witnessed the effects of the whip on grown men. Seen them break down and cry for mercy as their skins flayed, blood and liquid oozing from the welts.
“Y—you wouldn’t,” she said bravely.
Inside she fought to control her stomach from churning and her feet from taking flight.
“Wouldn’t I? One thing the king detests is spies. I have the authority to mete out instant punishment to offenders.”
He stood and stalked toward her, a tiger prowling.
Instinct told her to pushed back and cower before him. To plead for mercy. She needed to survive so she could take care of her sibling.

Yet the thought of falling on her knees for another man who would take advantage had her bristling with anger. Despite her rising trepidation, she stood tall and met his stare without flinching. She kept her hands by her sides, rubbing her clammy palms against her skirt.
He stopped within reach of her but didn’t touch her. Instead, he crossed his arms across his chest. The flickering low lamp cast his features into shadows. She couldn’t read his expression.
“So if you have no wish for the whip tonight, you will stop your insubordination immediately and do as I tell you.”
His command grated on her nerves. She bit her tongue, quelling her sharp retort. She had no wish to have her skin flayed, or to be displayed publicly as a spy.
Flashing him her most disdainful glare, she asked, “What would you have me do?”
He might have her at his mercy but she didn’t have to make it easy for him.
“Get on the bed.”
