Hello, readers. This week I'm pleased to host guest author Georgia Lyn Hunter on my blog as we chat about writing and her debut paranormal romance Absolute Surrender. This is one book I'm looking forward to reading soon. So please give her a warm welcome.

First, last week's ebook winner is Mary Preston. Congratulations! You win a copy of Life After 6 Tequilas by Gina Rossi.

This week I'm giving away an eBook copy of Absolute Surrender by Georgia Lyn Hunter. Leave a comment on this blog post and make sure you're following my blog via email. The winner will be chosen at the end of the week.

Now meet my guest, Georgia.

~*~*~*~*~

Q1) Can you tell us a little about yourself

GLH: My passion for creating led me to study fashion design, a job that spanned several years until my hubby’s job took us to the Middle East and we relocated. Here, I did a short stint as an art teacher. Two jobs that required me talking to people—not an easy thing for an introvert like me, I assure you.
But now I'm finally able to do something close to my heart without feeling scrutinized, overwhelmed or uncomfortable—I write.

Q2) Have you always wanted to be an author?

GLH: No, I wanted to read. Anything and everything I could lay my hands on from the moment I could understand the written word. Writing took too long, or so I thought in those days. Now I can’t wait to dive into the world I’ve created to see what my characters have in store for me J

Q3) Who are some of your favorite writers? Who do you feel has influenced your writing?

GLH: I love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s older books—her hero’s snark. JR Ward—hot-hot males, and Nalini Singh who writes the most sensual love scenes ever.

Q4) Can you tell us what a typical writing day for you is like.

GLH: I write in the mornings. My brain’s far more productive in creating then. I first do a quick edit of what I’d written the previous day just to get back into the zone and then I write, all this while I'm still in bed. I’m relaxed and good to go J
Most days don’t always pan out this way, though. But I make sure to write something even when I’m not in the mood. And those revisions leave me horrified at all the crap that finds its way into my rough draft. I find working on two stories help tremendously, so when my characters don’t budge in one (dreaded writers blockJ), I leave them to brood and work on the other.

Q5) Let’s talk about your new book.  Can you tell us a little about it?

GHL: Yes, definitely. It’s a book of discovery and acceptance.
On the hunt for the demonii who killed her friend, Echo Carter comes across a man unlike any she’s ever seen. Aethan’s not impressed with her penchant for walking the edges of danger. And she’s absolutely not impressed by all his little rules, until she discovers the horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to him. It’s a battle of wills for these two that leads to a dangerous passion, unaware he can never touch her the way she needs, and yearns for.

Q6) How did you come up with the idea for this story?

GLH: I had a thought, pitched it to my daughter who went for broke and made me write it J
While I was researching angelology, demonology and mythology, I came across the word ‘empyreal’. My mind just took over and created Empyrea. Well, unfortunately everything didn't fall into place, but through trial, error, numerous research and rewrites, I got what I wanted. I love the world this came to be. (I hasten to add very little about Empyrea is revealed here, but there will be more in my next book.)

Q7) What is up next for you?

GLH: Just completed Darkness Undone, my second book, which hopefully be released later this year, and the third is in the middle of revisions, which sadly is on hold while I prepare for the release of the first one.

Q8) What is the best piece of advice you would give to a budding writer?

GLH: Write from the heart, become your characters and break the rules if you have to. Then find a supportive critique group and rewrite again. But never give up your dream.

Q9) What is the next book on your To Read Pile that you are dying to jump into?

GLH: JR Ward’s Lover at Last. And Shelly Laurenston’s Wolf with Benefits.

Q10) Is there anything else you would like to add?

BIO:

Georgia Lyn Hunter, she’s happiest with a book in her hand and never thought about writing, too busy devouring the books out there, then she read her first paranormal romance several years ago the writing bug bit.
