Read Christmas With The Enemy, my FREE short story over at The Nuthouse Scribblers.

All Evelyn wants this Christmas is to earn enough to pay her way through her final year at University. So while the world parties over the festivities, she works hard as domestic staff for the Inemi-Spiffs.

So when she bumps into James Ebie, the son of the man who sent her father to prison and caused her mother’s death, her instinct isn’t one of goodwill to this man.

Yet the surprising sensations he elicits from her are far from hatred. Can an enemy become a lover this season?

A Review: The Wild Heart by Gina Rossi @Ginagina7

A historical fiction with romantic elements set in eighteenth century South Africa, published by The Wild Rose Press, available in eBook and paperback.

Disclaimer: I paid for and downloaded this eBook via Amazon UK. No favours where exchanged for this review. This is purely my opinion of the story.

The Blurb:

Georgina Blake flees a refined life in eighteenth century England to avoid a scandal. Determined to begin a new life, she voyages to the Cape of Good Hope, only to find death and destruction await, endangering those she holds dear.
Though she is intrigued by stranger, Anton Villion, trader, adventurer and maverick, his arrival threatens her precarious security. Anton, himself privy to a painful secret, shadowed by heartbreak and seeking peace, is drawn to Georgina despite his hurt and mistrust, and his reservations about her history.

A Slow Start to An Easy Ride #NaNoWriMo

Hello, everyone! Happy Monday and November.

You see, I've been busy with editing my holiday contemporary romance, ISLAND BOUND. I signed a contract with Decadent Publishing about 3 weeks ago to publish it. So it's been go, go, go, the past few weeks to get it ready for the Christmas season.

What is coming soon?

Hello everyone. I hope you had a fabulous weekend.

It's been a busy couple of months. First, was the rush to complete a Christmas story I started writing recently. It's a contemporary romance set in Brass Island, Nigeria. The original title was His Christmas Wish but I've changed it to Island Bound, since the location became an integral part of the story. Some stories run away with you. This was one of those. There were times when I thought the emotions between the two main characters would explode my laptop. You can read an excerpt from the story here.

#RomanticFridayWriters: I Should've Kissed You

Hello everyone! I'm back doing Romantic Friday Writers which means I'm back writing again after a 2-month break. Can someone give me an halleluyah! LOL.
It tell you it feels great to be writing again. It's like chains have been broken and I'm released from captivity. Seriously. :)

Right. Before I get to today's post I've got one quick announcement.
HIS TREASURE nearly scooped another award. It was a runner-up at the 2012 Swirl Awards in the novella category. You can check out the rest of the winners at the Swirl Awards website. Getting the news has worked wonders in inspiring me again. So a big woohoo!

Now, on to RFW. This week's challenge is to write 600 words of prose or poetry for the theme I Should've Kissed You.
Since I've been out of the RFW loop for a while I really wanted to participate this week. So I've just written this piece this afternoon. It's going to be part of a Christmas story I'm writing titled His Christmas Wish. It's still very rough and it's longer than 600 words. Sorry. But I hope you enjoy reading it. Feel free to critique it. As always I love your feedback.

Joshua Inemo-Spiff waited outside, ready to confront his future. The late afternoon sun kissed his back with heat rays. On reflex, he rolled his shoulders and massaged his neck.

Spotlight on Distraction by JL Campbell

Hello readers. I'm pleased to welcome the lovely J.L. Campbell to my blog today as part of her Friendship is Forever VBT. Please leave her a comment to make her feel welcome. You can also download FREE copies of her books for a limited period. Over to you, Joy.

As a writer, I view storytelling as an adventure. In crafting a story, I know what’s supposed to happen at the start, where I want to be at the end, but not every plot point in the middle. The complications add up once the story gets rolling and I hit my stride.

Yay! 14 August is #TweetIgbo day

Hello readers. TweetIgbo day is back hosted by http://www.kwadoigbo.org/. Most of you know my first language is Igbo, the predominant language in South East Nigeria, the region I set my current historical romance Men of Valor series.

I don't get to speak much of it these days, living in the UK. But I totally support all projects to sustain it for the future.

TweetIgbo is awareness raising event. Twitter users are encouraged to tweet in Igbo throughout the day using the hashtags #tweetigbo or #twitterigbo. I know most of my readers do not speak or read Igbo. But I'd still love your support with retweets, please.

Here are some Igbo facts:
There are approximately 30 million Igbo speaking people worldwide. Outside of Nigeria, you'll find them in USA, UK, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Equitorial Guinea, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Japan, St Lucia, Canada, St Kitts & Nevis, and Guyana amongt other countries.

So we are your neighbours. Join us to celebrate TweetIgbo day on twitter on Tuesday. And to spice things up, I'll be giving away copies of one of the Men of Valor books throughout the day. So don't miss it.  :)

People often ask me what I love about writing. It’s always been difficult to explain. I often say that I write to keep the voices in my head silent. I tell their stories. I’m joking, kind of sort of. When I write, the characters become real. I know everything about them and their lives and they keep me entertained. Yep. I’m a tad bit of a nut, but it works for me. LOL.

Final Chapter: Her Protector (Men of Valor, 3.5)

Hello everyone. Thank you for joining me on this writing journey. Here's the final chapter to this historical romance short story. I hope you've learned a few new things about Igbo culture and traditions. Share your thoughts as usual.

Traditional Igbo family compound

The sun was high in the cloudless azure sky when they left Jide’s lodgings. The ruby clay earth scorched Oma’s bare feet.
She walked beside Jide, her wrists bound loosely. He’d suggested it as a ruse to trap her uncle. She’d accepted that his plan could work.
Yet now, her skin prickled with unease at being bound and unable to defend herself.

The story continues... Happy Reading!

Roasted Plantains
Oma woke with a start, jolting off the bedding. Disorientated, she stared around the strange chamber lit dimly by the grey early morning light.

“Good. You’re awake.”
The deep male voice drew her gaze to the long bench. Jide sat on it, his arms bent at the elbows on the table. The aroma of freshly roasted yam and plantain accosted her nostrils. Her stomach rumbled.

Chapter 3: Her Protector (Men of Valor 3.5)

Hello, readers! Welcome back. This a short chapter. I hope you enjoy it. Share your thoughts as always.
***
African Mud Huts
Heartless. Brutal. Unforgiving.
They’d called him worse.

Jide was accustomed to the fear in people’s eyes when they looked at him. Yet they venerated him in battle. They trusted their lives with him, knowing he would give his life to protect their people. Their land. Their kingdom.

Watching Oma tremble with trepidation when she’d assumed he’d flay her skin with the whip or force her to his bed had only churned his stomach with disgust. The sensation left him with no joy or satisfaction.
Whatever his sins, he was not that evil. He would take the life of an enemy without hesitation in combat. But he was no defiler of innocents!

11 Shocking Fetishes I Bet You Never Heard Of

A fetish is an obsession with anything that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation. Foot fetishes are one of the most popular fetishes, and it’s quite common for men to have. In Here Comes Trouble, I gave Matthew Hawthorne a foot fetish. He likes to suck toes. As I did my research, I found out there are literally dozens of fetishes, and some of them are so unusual I had to share them with you. I had only heard of two of them on this list. Below is my list of eleven, in alphabetical order. Get ready to be educated!

Peter Mensah in Spartacus is the inspiration for Jide

Oma stood with her back against the smooth cool wall of the private chamber. The rest of the palace guards shared quarters. However due to his rank and stature as head of palace security, Jide had his own lodgings.
Self-consciously, she rubbed her arm where he had been holding her previously. Her skin still tingled from his touch. His heat.

Romantic Friday Writers: Greener Pastures

Hello readers, welcome back to Romantic Friday Writers. This week's challenge is to write a piece of prose or poetry to the theme 'Greener Pastures.' I've chosen to revise a short story I wrote about 2 years ago. I hope you enjoy this piece of flash fiction.

Word count: 600

Eyes raised, she glanced at the round brushed aluminium clock on the wall. 8.05pm.
Slowly, a frustrated sigh whooshed from Abi’s lungs, her earlier excitement fizzing into the humid summer evening air.

Hello everyone! I'm glad to be back with Romantic Friday Writers. This week’s challenge is to write 400 words of prose or poetry or excerpt to the theme Stuck In The Middle.

I'm taking a break from a hectic schedule. All I can say is that I'm looking forward to some downtime this summer.

So I've chosen a snippet from An Engagement Challenge. You can read the blurb here.

In this scene, the heroine Ijay discovers that her fiancé Vincent and her ex Paul know each other. Guess who’s stuck in the middle. LOL.

Yes, I know it's not supposed to be about love triangles. But I hope you enjoy reading it anyway.

Word count: 396
