I just wanted you back #SexySnippets #Christmas

Welcome back to Sexy Snippets hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers where we share seven sentences from a published book or work-in-progress. If you're a writer, feel free to join us by signing up at the Sexy Snippets page. Sign up opens every Tuesday and closes midnight every Saturday (UK time).
  This week I'm sharing from Island Bound, my moving and sizzling Christmas romance about a couple whose marriage is on the verge of a breakdown and how they get their second chance. You can read the full Chapter One HERE.

In this scene, we're reminded that Christmas is about more than decorations and presents. It's about having the ones we love alive and well and with us. I hope you enjoy it.

~~~
“It’s Christmas. It doesn’t feel very festive at the moment. The house is bare of decorations.”
“I don’t mind.” She choked back the tears and lump in her throat. Christmas in this house had always been very special with family, friends, decorations, presents, and parties. “It doesn’t have to be decorated for it to be Christmas. I just wanted you back, and now I’ve got that.”
~~~
Leave me a comment. I love reading them. Remember to check out the other Sexy Snippets this week.

An Interview with Lolita Lopez @lowriter #scifi #romance

Happy Monday, readers! Today, I'm hosting author Lolita Lopez on her blog tour as she showcases her latest book Saved by Venom. Read on for my interview with her.

At the end of this interview, there is a chance to win a $100 gift card. Read on for more.

Welcome to my blog, Lolita. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm just your everyday work at home mom type gal—except for the dirty book writing part, I guess! I've lived in Texas my entire life, started out in West Texas near the oilfields and am currently in East Texas. I have a big, alpha male Viking throwback of a husband and a quirky, rambunctious four-year-old daughter.

#SexySnippets from Island Bound #Christmas #Holidayromance

Welcome back to Sexy Snippets hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers where we share seven sentences from a published book or work-in-progress. If you're a writer, feel free to join us by signing up at the Sexy Snippets page. Sign up opens every Tuesday and closes midnight every Saturday (UK time).

This week I'm sharing from Island Bound, my moving and sizzling Christmas romance about a couple whose marriage is on the verge of a breakdown and how they get their second chance. This book is currently discounted on SALE at Amazon and All Romance eBooks from $3.99 to $0.99 for a limited period. Pick up your copy NOW. :-)
You can read the full Chapter One HERE.
Here's the snippet. I love this scene especially because of the last line. It sums up Joshua's determination to mend their marriage. I hope you enjoy it.
~*~
The shock of the cold wind reminded her they were standing outside on the balcony. In a private corner surrounded by palm trees, they were not overlooked by other buildings, yet any of the servants could walk by and glance up.
“Joshua,” she whispered a warning, but the sound came out more like a plea.
He groaned, lifted his head, and leaned his forehead to hers.

“If we didn’t have to be somewhere today, I would’ve taken this to its natural conclusion this morning,” he said in a husky voice as he straightened her robe and tied the belt around her waist. “But know two things. We will conclude this, and I’m never going to let you go.”
~*~
I hope you enjoyed it. Leave me a comment. I love reading them.
If you're still undecided about this story, here are some of the reviews:
"OMG! I loved this book from start to finish... It's a definite page turner... You'll run the gamit of emotions with this read..." ~ Amazon reviewer.

"there was a fierce passion from the very first paragraph that just kept me reading." ~ Amazon reviewer

"I love that Joshua doesn't really understand the reasons that Christy has for wanting out of their marriage but is willing to go all out to save it. It has sexy scenes and is a reminder to us all that love can win, as long as we are willing to give it a chance." ~ Amazon reviewer

"This is a heartwarming and passionate tale of a marriage in trouble, and their struggle to find each other again." ~ Bestselling author, Doris O'Connor.

#Interview Deck The Halls with Zrinka Jelic @Firetulip #holidayromance

Happy Monday, people! I'm excited to have guest author Zrinka Jelic here this week. Her latest book Deck The Halls is a Christmas novella just in time for the holidays. Please make her feel welcome.

Leave a comment and you could win a copy of her book. I will pick a winner next week.
Lisa B. won a copy of His Reign by Sascha Illyvich. A copy has already been sent to her.

Now on to the interview.

Q1) Welcome to my blog, Zrinka. Can you tell us a little about yourself

One of the most dreaded questions on job interviews. I never know what they would want to hear, if I’m volunteering too much info, giving the wrong impression. But I’m assuming I’m safe here, so here we go. I love to lose myself in a good book, and I love to lose myself in writing a good book. It’s hard to find time for both. A full time job takes most of my day, then the house chores, two kids and if there’s a time at the end of the day, I usually dedicate it to my writing.

Q2) You're my kind of girl. So, have you always wanted to be an author?

No, although I love to make up stories and alternate versions of movies or books, I never put the pen to the paper. Once actually, I wrote the story by hand,  in grade seven (I think) and somehow every girl wanted to read it.

#SexySnippets Why didn't you return my call? #WIP

Welcome back to  Sexy Snippets hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers where we share seven sentences from our published novel or work-in-progress.

I'm bringing you more snippets from my current WIP, Making Scandal the 2nd book in my contemporary romance series The Essien Trilogy coming next year via Decadent Publishing. I didn't complete this story in time for NaNoWriMo, bohoohoo. But at least I'm still writing it.
In this scene Mark and Faith are meeting for a second time. I think the snippet speaks for itself. I hope you enjoy it.

~~~
Blair Underwood as Mark Essien
"Why didn't you return my call?" Mark asked after the waiter had taken their drinks orders.
"I've had a very busy week at work," Faith said, lifting her shoulder in a blasé shrug in an attempt to mask the more than casual sensations twirling in her belly.
"Is that the real reason or are you avoiding me?"
She glanced at him and lowered her gaze to the table, not wanting him to see how much he affected her.
"I'm not avoiding you, although I think we don't really have anything more to say to each other."
His hand settled on her left thigh, branding her with strength and heat, her fitted linen pencil skirt providing little protection for her awakening skin.
"There's still plenty we haven't said to each other."
Let me know what you think. I love to read you comments.
Happy Thanksgiving - Why I am Thankful
It's that time of the year again when I look back and give thanks for being here.
This past year has been a year of mixed blessings.
I gave birth to my third child who is a beautiful, joyful child. I also lost a very dear friend of mine, someone who always made me smile and had my back.
These days I don't write as frequently as I'd like but all in all I'm happy with where I am. So it is with great pleasure that I give a huge thanks because in all thing we still have to be thankful.
First and foremost, I give thanks to God without whom none of this would be possible.
I give thanks to my darling husband, Mr T, for being the head of our family. I love you!
To my beautiful children, for understanding when mummy has to work. Mummy loves you all!
To my beta readers, Queenie, Bimbo, Kemi, Henza, Chinwe, and Mpanda for loving my stories so much you are willing to read the crappy first drafts.
To everyone who's ever bought my book, read it, left a review and / or recommended it.
To the lovely network of authors who are always there to provide support.
To Michaela Rhua, Nana Prah, Dee Little whose words and actions are always encouraging.
Thank you, all. I love you guys!
#SexySnippets The Essiens Trilogy book 2 #NewWIP
Welcome back to  Sexy Snippets hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers where we share seven sentences from our published novel or work-in-progress.
As I'm working on a new WIP for NaNoWriMo, I decided to share from it. This is a contemporary romance and the follow on story to Keeping Secrets (The Essien Trilogy) which is contracted to Decadent Publishing Ubuntu and coming Spring 2014. For those of you who read Ebony and Felix Essiens's story when I was writing it over a year ago will be excited to know that I'm writing Faith and Mark's story.
So I hope you enjoy this snippet.
~~~

Halle Berry inspired Faith Brown
When his all-seeing blue-black eyes had met hers across the floor, there had been no mistaking the smouldering craving within their depths. She’d been unable to quell her body’s needful trembling when he’d taken her hand. Before the clock had struck midnight she’d been in his arms, on his bed, in his penthouse apartment in Ikoyi.
It had been a night to remember. Being with Mark had been intoxicating, like a heady addictive drug. Once she got a taste of him, she didn’t want to stop. But she’d had to.

~~~
I hope you enjoyed it. Share your thoughts. Leave me a comment. I love to read them.
Blurb
Ugo’ji is an outcast, an untouchable. She lives on the fringe of society as the lowest of the low, a living sacrifice to the gods. The only person she interacts with is her aged grandmother Nne who nurtures her powerful gift of healing. Until the day she meets Ebube a strange warrior to their lands. He  ignites a yearning within her she's unable to ignore.
Ebube is drawn to the young maiden with the emerald green eyes who possesses the body of a goddess and the healing touch of an angel. But he is forbidden from mating with a human and the consequence is the wrath of the gods.
Moreover he is on a mission. If he fails, the gates of hell will be opened and the earth plunged into darkness. He cannot stay and she cannot go with him.
Excerpt
Help me...Do whatever it takes...Keep the gates of Alammuo sealed.
Darkness tugged at him and threatened to pull him into its murky depths. With a jerk, Ebube sat up on his pallet. The creaking wood and thumping of his heart echoed in his acutely responsive ears.
Danger seeped from the nightmare he couldn’t remember into the air, leaden and oppressive. His breath heaved as he choked, his throat clogged with the fetid stench of death.
On reflex, he extended his right arm, grabbing the scabbard he always kept within reach, the pitch shadow no hindrance for his sharp eyesight. As a leopard-shifter, his vision was excellent, night and day. He didn't need to look at his hands to see the extended claws. Sharp tips dug into his palm. He ignored the sting and his awkward grip on the carved wooden hilt of the single edge sword.
His beast came to the fore, clawing to take over, an instinctive response to potential threats. Muscles tensed, Ebube fought the shift. Sweat streaked down his body in rivulets. He swiped his face with his left palm, stopping the liquid from dripping into his eyes.
Sweeping his gaze across the large, airy chamber of his sparsely-decorated home, he sought the source of danger setting off his internal alarm.
Apart from the raised bamboo sleeping platform covered in padded deer hide and the wooden trunk that stored his personal belongings, the only other items were his tools of warfare – his spears, shields, machetes and scabbards. They hung on the single-rung mantel against the burnt-umber rock wall, gleaming with polish and sharpness, ready for use.  Undisturbed.
A tingle ran up his spinal column, the way it always did when he sensed something out of place. Something terribly wrong. He swung his legs around. Cool unglazed stone flooring met his bare feet. The muscles on his back tensed, primed for action. Slowly, he stood to his full height and walked through the room.
His home consisted of two chambers, one for sleeping and the other for entertaining guests. Though as a guardian, a special warrior of the gods, he could live as luxuriously as the gods did, they had agreed communally to live as simply as humans of the era so as not to draw attention to themselves as supernatural beings.
Nothing was out of place in his rooms, no stray, malevolent being in the vicinity. Yet the tingling in his bones didn't dissipate. When he found nothing inside, he grabbed the wooden knob, opened the door and walked onto the corridor linking his residence to the rest of his family's. Their homes were hewn out of Amauwa rocks, a hill range in the middle of the rain forest.
He stopped in front of the last house, the tension on his shoulders increasing. Nothing lurked inside it, living or inanimate. Yet the memory of the previous occupant flooded his mind, hitting him low in the abdomen, spreading pain through his body. Gritting his teeth, he shook his head and turned his back to the building and its unwelcome memories.
Anchor Baby #MovieMonday #Nollywood
Add caption
I finally managed to watch Anchor Baby on Nollywood Movies over the weekend.
Summary
An illegal immigrant couple from Nigeria, pregnant Joyce (Omoni Oboli) and Paul Unanga (Sam Sarpong) are on the run from the United States immigration, desperately hoping that Joyce will give birth in the US, so their child can become an American citizen. Anchor Baby is an emotionally charged tale that will leave you guessing all through the end.
This is an lovely thriller / suspense  movie with a sting in its tail you won't see coming, although I kind of figured it out. For a 'Nollywood'  movie, the production is excellent and Omoni Oboli is fab. Although my husband argues that it shouldn't be a Nollywood movie because it was filmed in the US.
All in all, I loved it. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
Outcast #SexySnippets Do you doubt my sincerity?
Welcome back to Sexy Snippets hosted by The Nuthouse Scribblers where we bring you a seven-sentence snippet taken from a work-in-progress or published book. Remember any writer is welcome to sign up whether you're published or not.
This week I'm sharing more from Outcast (Sacred Amulet, part one). I think this scene explains itself. (Oops, it's one sentence too long.)
~*~
“You have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen,” he said in a deep voice, the sound vibrating in her belly.
Panicked, she drew in breathe sharply, lowered her eyes and turned her face away. Her eyes had been part of what caused her a lot of trouble. Some people had said they were unnatural and branded her a witch.
Ebube put his hand on her cheek and turned her face back towards his.
“Do you doubt my sincerity?”
“No.” She looked away again.
“Then, never look away from me when I talk to you. I love looking into your eyes.”
~*~
I hope you enjoyed it. Leave me your comment. I love reading them.
The Mistress
Kings of Cardenas #4
By Elise Marion
Blurb:
Once the courtesan of a prince, and then the wife of a king, Davina Keane now finds herself divorced, banished for treason, and sentenced to a life of loveless marriage to the man who aided her in her crimes. Now a penniless widow, she has sunk as low as could be and faces a life of poverty; prostitution being her only other option besides living on the street. Desperate to save herself, Davina makes one final attempt at forging a new life … by marriage to Rafe Rothwell.
A widower and father of three, Rafe has been looking for a wife ever since his first one perished. It’s too bad no one will have him, as he and his children (known notoriously as the Racous Rothwells) have a reputation for being difficult to manage. He’s long given up his search when Davina Keane appears at his door, seemingly prepared to take on the role. Though his needs are practical at first, Rafe finds himself faced with the truth: he wants more from her than just a manager of his home and hearth.
As an arrangement of convenience becomes something more, Davina is faced with the possibility of losing her husband over the truth of a past she kept secret when entering the marriage. Will love be enough to erase the mistakes of her past, or will they threaten to upend her newfound happiness?
#AuthorInterview: Want Passion and Adventure? Meet @DThorne_author
You saw her book spotlight yesterday. Now check out my interview with author Diane Thorne.
~*~*~*~*~
Q1) Welcome to my blog, Diane. Please tell us a little about yourself
 I'm a divorced mother of one lovely and bright young woman, and I like to boogie. Okay, I don't actually boogie but I do write erotic romance and ménages in my spare time. I hate taxes and slow drivers. I chew a lot of gum, drink a ton of water, and I workout five nights a week. Is that too much about me? J
Q2) LOL. Not at all. Have you always wanted to be an author?
Short answer, No. In my early twenties, I had considered it. I had enjoyed writing when I was in school. Well, other priorities claimed hold of me and I gave up the idea of writing. It wasn’t until my late 30s I revisited the idea. I was at a point my life where I realized I had a lot of time on my hands. I’d been actively reading and thought, hey, why don’t I try to write something. I think I can do this. At that time, the writing world was in the midst of change. The days of needing an agent were sinking fast. I wrote, wrote, wrote and researched writing and editing. I went to a conference and met several wonderful people. Later that year, I got my first contract. Over the years, I’ve learned how much I love writing, but it doesn’t pay the bills. LOL
I started reading romance novels as a teenager. My writing of romance novels that are a fine blend of intense sensual romance, intrigue and conflict started in 2008. In 2010, I created Flirty & Feisty Romance Novels. The collection of contemporary romance novels includes, LOITERING SHADOWS, STORMY DEFENSE, BEYOND the LADY, the National Novel Writing Month 2010 winning novel, THE GARDENER’s ICE MAIDEN, SPARKLING DAWN and the New release, HUSBAND to RENT.
When am not writing, I take care of my handsome, life-size hero of a husband and two vibrant & loving ‘near teenagers’. I love to read romance novels, swim and watch TV, including Nollywood and am a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing.
I'm giving away two eBooks from my backlist to 2 lucky commenters. All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what you enjoyed about this snog.
For every comment I receive on this hop, I will donate $0.10 to Medecins Sans Frontieres. So get commenting people. It's for a good cause!
